On October 25, 2023, the Presiding Disciplinary Judge recommended to the Supreme Court of Arizona the acceptance of the Agreement for Reinstatement of Attorney Robin Kidd Auld to the practice of law in the state without retaking and passing the bar exam.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of A Resigned Member of the State Bar of Arizona Robin Kidd Auld.” with case number PDJ 2023-9066-R.
Auld, resigned from the State Bar of Arizona on March 15, 2018, citing relocation as the primary reason. He and his wife initially moved to New Mexico but later returned due to his wife’s health issues. The resignation was made in good standing as they believed they wouldn’t be returning to Arizona. Auld held a New Mexico Real Estate Broker’s license during his resignation period and maintained his license in good standing. He never faced discipline during his legal career in Arizona and expressed a strong desire to re-enter the legal profession.
He filed an application for reinstatement on August 23, 2023. After a thorough investigation by the State Bar, the parties involved submitted an Agreement for Reinstatement. The Agreement included stipulated facts, conclusions of law, and exhibits supporting Auld’s reinstatement.
The Presiding Disciplinary Judge found that Auld met the requirements for reinstatement. It was noted that Auld had not been the subject of bar discipline charges and had no outstanding fees owed to the State Bar. Furthermore, Auld had been practicing real estate in New Mexico, where he held a broker’s license. The PDJ agreed that Auld should not be required to retake the Arizona bar examination due to his long and competent legal career.
As a result, the case was transmitted to the Supreme Court of Arizona, with a recommendation for Auld’s reinstatement to the active practice of law in the state, without the need for retaking the bar exam. A final determination and order were to be decided by the Arizona Supreme Court.
The filing states:
“IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED accepting the Agreement for Reinstatement and recommending to the Supreme Court of Arizona that Mr. Auld be reinstated to the active practice of law in Arizona without re-taking and passing the Arizona bar examination.”
According to Avvo, Mr. Auld is a criminal defense attorney in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He attended Northwestern University School of Law graduating in 1972. He acquired his law license in Arizona in 2012.
