On Thursday, July 13, 2023, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department ordered that attorney Colin Ross McArthur be reinstated to the practice of law, effective immediately.

McArthur had previously been suspended in September 2022 for failing to comply with the attorney registration requirements of Judiciary Law § 468-a. The Third Judicial Department suspended McArthur along with 275 other attorneys who were delinquent with their biennial registration obligations.

To be reinstated, McArthur was required to provide clear and convincing evidence that he complied with the order of suspension, possessed the character and fitness to resume practicing law, and that reinstatement would serve the public interest.

In February 2023, McArthur filed a notice of motion and affidavit seeking reinstatement. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department did not oppose McArthur’s motion.

After reviewing the motion, the Third Judicial Department found McArthur satisfied all requirements and granted his request to be reinstated to the practice of law in New York State.

The Disposition states:

“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”

Mr. Mcarthur is licensed in New York with license no. 5568704.
