On Friday, April 26, 2024, the Kansas Supreme Court issued an order disbarring David Lee McCollum from practicing law in the state.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of David Lee McCollum,” with case no. 20911.

McCollum had been administratively suspended from practicing law in Kansas since October 2023 for failing to fulfill registration and continuing legal education requirements. He also voluntarily surrendered his law license in Missouri last year.

In the current case, McCollum faced a disciplinary complaint in Kansas and requested to voluntarily surrender his license to practice law as well. The Kansas Supreme Court accepted his request and revoked his license to practice law in the state effectively immediately. As a result, McCollum’s name will be stricken from the roll of attorneys licensed to practice in Kansas.

The court’s order noted that any pending disciplinary cases against McCollum in Kansas would also be terminated as a result of the disbarment. However, the Disciplinary Administrator may direct further investigation to preserve evidence if needed. McCollum will also be responsible for costs associated with the case.

According to avvo.com, Mr. McCollum is a personal injury attorney in Liberty, Missouri. He attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law, graduating in 2001. He acquired his law license in Kansas in 2002.
