On Thursday, May 29, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department granted Eric H. Schunk’s motion for reinstatement as a retired attorney and counselor-at-law in the State of New York.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Eric H. Schunk,” with case no. 2025-02501.
Schunk was suspended in 1999 for failing to comply with Judiciary Law Section 468-a. The original order barred him from practicing law in New York until further court approval.
In his recent motion, Schunk requested reinstatement, demonstrating compliance with Judiciary Law Section 468-a on multiple occasions—April 12, 2021, March 21, 2023, April 22, 2025, and May 13, 2025—after his suspension.
Following due deliberation, the court approved Schunk’s reinstatement, effective immediately. The decision reflects the court’s determination that Schunk has met the necessary legal requirements to resume his professional status after more than two decades of suspension.
According to the filing, Mr. Schunck acquired his law license in New York in 1989.
