On Friday, December 8, 2023, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania suspended attorney Gemma Marilyn Antoine, also known as Gemma Antoine-Belton, from practicing law for 30 days.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Gemma Marilyn Antoine, A/K/A Gemma Antoine-Belton,” with case no. 130 DB 2023.

This action comes after Antoine was suspended by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals for 60 days with 30 days stayed for improper conduct as guardian or conservator. The court’s order dated August 10th, 2023 stems from a complaint filed by the Disciplinary Counsel which uncovered that while serving as conservator for disabled adult wards, Antoine-Belton had allowed the wards to directly receive rental income generated from their estates instead of properly collecting and reporting the funds. Antoine admitted to violating professional conduct rules related to competence, conflicts of interest, and impairing justice.

The Pennsylvania order indicates that the court considered responses to a Notice and Order regarding the D.C. court’s ruling. The order results in a 30-day suspension of Antoine’s law license in Pennsylvania. Antoine is admitted to practice law in both Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

According to martindale.com, Ms. Antoine attended the Howard University. She acquired her law license in Pennsylvania in 1985.
