On Monday, May 6, 2024, Attorney James Patrick Henry was temporarily suspended from practicing law by order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
According to a press release from the Board of Professional Responsibility, Mr. Henry failed to respond to six complaints filed against him concerning allegations of attorney misconduct. As a result, under Tennessee Rule 9 Section 12.3, his law license was immediately suspended on an interim basis until further review.
The suspension means that as of May 6, 2024, Mr. Henry can no longer accept any new clients or legal cases. He must also complete the representation of all current clients by June 5, 2024. After this date, Mr. Henry is prohibited from using any indicia related to legal work or maintaining an office for the practice of law. He must notify all of his clients about the suspension and provide them with any of their documents or possessions.
Furthermore, Mr. Henry is required to adhere to additional procedures outlined in Tennessee Rule 9 regarding the responsibilities of suspended attorneys and applying for reinstatement. The temporary suspension will stay in effect pending a decision by the Supreme Court to dissolve or modify the terms of the penalty.
