On Friday, January 30, 2026, the Tennessee Board of Professional Conduct announced the disbarment of attorney Jocelyn Doria Mims by the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Mims is permanently barred from practicing law in the state, and she is required to cover all costs associated with the Board’s investigation.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Jocelyn Doria Mims.”

The disbarment follows a hearing where a panel determined that Mims’s felony convictions related to tampering with evidence, making false reports, and failing to report child sexual abuse constituted serious criminal misconduct. The panel found that these actions prejudiced the administration of justice and negatively impacted her honesty, trustworthiness, and fitness as a lawyer.

The Board determined that Mims violated several Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. These violations include breaches related to the scope of representation, confidentiality, candor toward the tribunal, fairness to opposing parties, truthfulness in statements, and general misconduct.

According to Avvo.com, Ms. Mims was a litigation attorney in Gallatin, Tennessee. She attended Vanderbilt University Law School. She acquired her law license in Tennessee in 2004.
