On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility announced the temporary suspension of attorney Michael Lloyd Freeman. The Supreme Court of Tennessee imposed the suspension due to Mr. Freeman’s failure to respond to four separate complaints regarding alleged professional misconduct.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Michael Lloyd Freeman.”

As a result of the suspension, Mr. Freeman is prohibited from taking on any new cases and must discontinue representation of all current clients by October 3, 2025. After this date, he is also barred from presenting himself as a lawyer, legal assistant, or law clerk, and he must refrain from maintaining any presence in legal practice environments.

In accordance with the Supreme Court’s order, Mr. Freeman is required to inform all clients involved in ongoing matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel, about the suspension of his law license. He must also ensure that any documents or property belonging to his clients are returned.

Mr. Freeman is expected to adhere to the stipulations outlined in Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, particularly Sections 28 and 12.3(d), which detail the obligations of attorneys under temporary suspension and the process for seeking reinstatement.
