On Thursday, February 1, 2024, the New York Appellate Division, Third Department accepted the application of attorney Patricia Marie Malone to resign from the New York State Bar for non-disciplinary reasons.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Patricia Marie Malone,” with case no. PM-12-24.

The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department did not oppose Malone’s application. In her affidavit filed on December 27, 2023, Malone expressed her intent to permanently cease practicing law in New York state.

In their decision, the five-judge panel of the Third Department granted Malone’s application to resign from the bar. Their order requires Malone to surrender her attorney secure pass to the New York Office of Court Administration within 30 days.

By resigning from the bar, Malone will have her name stricken from the roll of licensed New York attorneys and is forbidden from practicing law or representing herself as an attorney in New York State going forward.

The Disposition states:

“ORDERED that Patricia Marie Malone’s application for permission to resign is granted and her nondisciplinary resignation is accepted; and it is further ORDERED that Patricia Marie Malone’s name is hereby stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at- law of the State of New York, effective immediately.”

According to the filing, Ms. Malone acquired her law license in New York in 1994.
