On Thursday, August 28, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted the reinstatement of attorney Sae Hyun Nam to the practice of law. This decision follows her suspension in September 2022.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Sae Hyun Nam,” with case no. PM-179-25.

The court’s ruling followed a thorough review of Ms. Nam’s motion for reinstatement, which included her affidavit and supporting documents, sworn on July 2, 2025, as well as her supplemental materials filed on July 11, 2025. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department responded to her request on August 5, 2025.

In their deliberations, the court found clear and convincing evidence that Ms. Nam had complied with the terms of her suspension and adhered to the established rules of the court. Additionally, the court determined that she possesses the necessary character and fitness to practice law and that her reinstatement serves the public interest.

The court also noted that Ms. Nam had successfully passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam, which contributed to their decision to excuse her from certain compliance issues related to the rules of the Appellate Division.

The Disposition states:

“It is ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”
