On Friday, August 22, 2025, the Supreme Court of Iowa issued an order revoking the law license of attorney Scott William Anderson. The revocation stems from Anderson’s disbarment in Kansas, which was a result of his criminal conviction related to multiple charges of financial fraud.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Scott William Anderson,” with case no. 25–0921.
The Iowa Supreme Court’s action was taken under reciprocal discipline guidelines outlined in Iowa Court Rule 34.19. The court had previously notified Anderson and the Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board of the intention to impose reciprocal discipline, providing them a 30-day period to respond. However, neither party submitted any objections or responses to the notice.
In the absence of any response from Anderson or the disciplinary board, the Iowa Supreme Court found no justification to withhold the imposition of identical disciplinary measures. Consequently, Anderson’s license to practice law in Iowa was revoked effective immediately upon the issuance of the order. This revocation encompasses all aspects of legal practice.
Under Iowa Court Rule 34.27, Anderson may seek readmission to the practice of law after a minimum period of five years, provided he meets certain criteria stipulated by the court. Additionally, Anderson is required to adhere to the notification obligations outlined in Iowa Court Rule 34.23(3). The costs associated with this disciplinary action have been assessed against Anderson.
According to Avvo.com, Mr. Anderson was a state, local, and municipal attorney in Lake Quivira, Kansas. He attended the University of Iowa College of Law, graduating in 1997.
