On Monday, September 23, 2024, the Supreme Court of Maryland issued an order to temporarily suspend attorney Sheila Bridget Thurmond Mayers from practicing law in the state.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Sheila Bridget Thurmond Mayers,” with case no. 7
The court took this action in response to a disciplinary petition filed by the Attorney Grievance Commission regarding Ms. Mayers. Earlier, the court had issued a show cause order requiring Ms. Mayers to explain why she should not face temporary suspension, but she did not file a response.
In the September 23, 2024 order signed by Chief Justice Matthew J. Fader, the court suspended Ms. Mayers while the grievance case continues. She was also required to be removed from the register of attorneys. The order further stated that more action would be taken once Ms. Mayers responds to the grievance petition as the court’s prior order to show cause dated July 31, 2024.
According to avvo.com, Ms. Mayers is an attorney in Arlington, Virginia. She acquired her law license in Maryland in 2002.
