On Friday, August 8, 2025, the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility announced that Attorney Sornavidya Saba Sankar has been placed on disability inactive status by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Sornavidya Saba Sankar.”

As a result of this change, Sankar is prohibited from practicing law while on disability inactive status. She is required to adhere to the stipulations set forth in Section 28 of Rule 9, which outlines the responsibilities and obligations for attorneys who have been transferred to this status.

Sankar will have the opportunity to return to legal practice once she has demonstrated that her disability has been resolved. This reinstatement process will require her to meet the conditions specified in Section 27.7 of the same rule, which governs the return of attorneys to active status.

According to Martindale.com, Ms. Sankar acquired her law license in Tennessee in 2020.
