On Friday, February 13, 2026, the Tennessee Board of Professional Conduct announced the temporary suspension of attorney Stephanie Branam Johnson from practicing law. The Supreme Court of Tennessee issued the suspension after determining that Ms. Johnson did not respond to the Board regarding a misconduct complaint.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Stephanie Branam Johnson.”

Effective immediately, Ms. Johnson is prohibited from accepting new clients and must cease representing her existing clients by March 15, 2026. After that date, she is barred from using any identifiers indicating she is a lawyer, legal assistant, or law clerk, and she cannot maintain a presence where legal practice occurs.

Ms. Johnson is required to inform all clients she currently represents in pending cases, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel, about the Supreme Court’s order suspending her law license. She must also deliver all necessary documents and property to her clients.

The suspension mandates Ms. Johnson’s compliance with Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Sections 28 and 12.3(d), which detail the obligations and responsibilities of attorneys who are temporarily suspended, as well as the reinstatement process.

According to Avvo.com, Ms. Johnson is an attorney in Sparta, Tennessee. She attended the Nashville School of Law. She acquired her law license in Tennessee in 2012.
