On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted attorney Susan R. Wasserman’s request to resign from the New York Bar for nondisciplinary reasons.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Susan R. Wasserman,” with case no. PM-136-25.

Initially, the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department opposed Wasserman’s application, citing her failure to meet attorney registration requirements for the 2024 biennial cycle. In response, Wasserman provided supplemental documentation on June 4, 2025, confirming that she had fulfilled her registration obligations and resolved any prior delinquencies. The Office of Court Administration’s records corroborated her compliance, clearing the way for her resignation.

The court reviewed Wasserman’s application and found no further objections from the Attorney Grievance Committee. Determining that she met the eligibility criteria for nondisciplinary resignation, the court approved her request. Effective immediately, Wasserman’s name was removed from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in New York.

As part of the court’s order, Wasserman is prohibited from practicing law in any capacity within New York, whether as a principal, agent, clerk, or employee. She is also barred from appearing as an attorney before any court, judge, justice, board, commission, or other public authority in the state. Additionally, Wasserman is forbidden from providing legal opinions or advice or presenting herself as an attorney in New York. The court further directed her to surrender any Attorney Secure Pass to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days of the decision.

The Disposition states:

“It is ORDERED that Susan R. Wasserman’s application for permission to resign is granted and her nondisciplinary resignation is accepted.”

According to Avvo.com, Ms. Wasserman is a social security & disability attorney in Los Angeles, California. She attended the Southwestern University School of Law. She acquired her law license in New York in 1984.
