On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division Third Judicial Department accepted attorney Tara Dahl Mattessich’s request to resign from the New York State Bar for non-disciplinary reasons. Mattessich filed an affidavit on February 26, 2024, seeking resignation.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Tara Dahl Mattessich,” with case no. PM-65-24.
The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department did not oppose Mattessich’s application. Upon reviewing her submission and the Committee’s response, the New York Court determined that Mattessich was eligible to leave the bar voluntarily.
As a result, the court struck her name from the roll of attorneys in New York. Mattessich is now prohibited from practicing law or representing herself as an attorney in any capacity in the state. She must also return any Attorney Secure Pass issued to her from the Office of Court Administration within 30 days.
According to avvo.com, Ms. Mattessich is an elder law attorney in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota Law School. She acquired her law license in New York in 2012.
