On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia issued an order authorizing the appointment of an attorney to protect the interests of clients of deceased attorney Brent A. Cameron. The order, prompted by a petition filed on August 25, 2025, by the Office of Lawyer Disciplinary Counsel, seeks to ensure the proper handling of Cameron’s cases following his death.

The case is entitled “Office of Lawyer Disciplinary Counsel v. Brent A. Cameon,” with case no. 25-543.

The Office of Lawyer Disciplinary Counsel, represented by Chief Lawyer Disciplinary Counsel Rachael L. Fletcher Cipoletti and Lawyer Disciplinary Counsel Renée N. Frymyer, initiated the petition in accordance with Rule 3.29 of the Rules of Lawyer Disciplinary Procedure. This rule allows for the immediate appointment of a lawyer to safeguard client interests when an attorney is unable to do so.

The Supreme Court has authorized the Honorable Patrick N. Wilson, Chief Judge of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit, to appoint an attorney to serve as trustee. This trustee will be responsible for protecting the interests of Cameron’s clients.

According to Avvo.com, Mr. Cameon is an attorney in Morgantown, West Virginia. He acquired his law license in West Virginia in 2005.
