On Thursday, July 13, 2023, the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court, Third Judicial Department has reinstated the law license of attorney Vidhi Sharma.

The case is entitled “Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department v. Vidhi Sharma” with case no. PM-144-23.

The court granted Sharma’s motion for reinstatement following her suspension last year. Sharma was one of over 350 attorneys suspended by the court in September 2022 for being in violation of Judiciary Law § 468-a, which requires attorneys in New York to file a biennial registration statement and pay fees.

To be reinstated, the court had to determine by clear and convincing evidence that Sharma complied with the order of suspension, has the character and fitness to practice law, and that reinstatement would be in the public interest.

In her March 4, 2023 affidavit submitted with her reinstatement motion, Sharma detailed her compliance with the suspension order and applicable court rules. The Attorney Grievance Committee did not oppose Sharma’s reinstatement in their April 6, 2023 response.

Based on the evidence presented, the Court unanimously reinstated Sharma’s license to practice law in New York, effective immediately.

The order states:

“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”

Ms. Sharma is licensed in New York with license no. 5464409.
