On Thursday, December 18, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department denied the motion of Virginia Marie Bonomo, a suspended attorney, for reinstatement to the practice of law. Bonomo’s suspension stemmed from a January 2014 order of the court related to attorneys in violation of Judiciary Law § 468-a.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Virginia Marie Bonomo,” with case number PM-281-25.

Bonomo’s motion for reinstatement, which included an affidavit and exhibits sworn to on October 17, 2025, was reviewed by the court. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department provided responsive correspondence dated November 20, 2025, which the court also considered.

The court, in its decision, stated that Bonomo failed to demonstrate, through clear and convincing evidence, her compliance with the court’s rules for reinstatement. These rules are outlined in the Rules for Attorney Disciplinary Matters [22 NYCRR] § 1240.16 [a] and the Rules of the Appellate Division, 3d Department [22 NYCRR] § 806.16 [c] [5].
