On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Supreme Court of Illinois ordered the suspension of Chicago attorney Tradd Ashton Fromme.

The case is entitled “In the matter of Tradd Ashton Fromme” and was brought by the Administrator of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission with case no. 031466.

The charges cited Rules of Professional Conduct 8.1(a) and 8.4(c) of the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct.

The Rules of Professional Conduct can be found here.

On September 12, 2022, the Report and Recommendation of Hearing Board decided that the respondent be suspended for three years due to misconduct that involved the usage of the employer’s credit card without authorization resulting in fraudulently obtaining $136,745.79. Moreover, the respondent also misrepresented to the administrator upon his request for information regarding the amount of restitution he had paid toward the unauthorized charges.

The filing states:

“In conclusion, we recommend that Respondent be suspended for three years and until further order of the Court. We find this sanction to be commensurate with Respondent’s misconduct, consistent with discipline that has been imposed for comparable misconduct, and necessary to serve the goals of attorney discipline, act as a deterrent, and preserve the public’s trust in the legal profession.”

Consistent with the recommendation from the Hearing Board of Illinois, the Supreme Court of Illinois decided to grant the request to disbar the respondent.

The Disposition states:

“Motion by the Administrator of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission to approve and confirm the report and recommendation of the Hearing Board. Allowed. Respondent Tradd Ashton Fromme is suspended from the practice of law for three (3) years and until further order of the Court.”
