On Thursday, January 5, 2023, the Supreme Court of Florida suspended Clearwater attorney Jean L. Berry for failure to file a response in a Show Cause Order.
The case is entitled “The Florida Bar v. Jean L. Berry” and was brought by the Florida Bar with case no. 2023-10, 176.
On November 3, 2022, the Florida Bar filed a Petition for Contempt and Order to Show Cause to the respondent. Attached to the Petition of the Florida Bar, is a copy of the Grievance Committee Finding of Non-Compliance and Failure to Respond to Official Bar Inquiry and Contempt.
In agreement with the Petition, the Supreme Court of Florida issued an Order to Show Cause to the respondent for failing to file a response to the Order and Show Cause. The Respondent is held in Contempt of Court and as a sanction, was suspended from the practice effective after 30 days from the issuance of the Order of suspension. According to the court, this time allotment can close out the respondent’s practice and practice and protect the interest.
The respondent will remain suspended until she fully responds in writing to the Official Bar Inquiries as of the Court. If Ms. Jean notifies in writing that she is no longer practicing and does not need the thirty (30) days allotment, the Court will enter an Order making the suspension effective immediately.
As of today, Ms. Jean is listed on the law firm Jean Berry, P.A. as a practicing attorney. Her info can be found on Linkedin. She practices in Clearwater, Florida. She is licensed in Florida.
