On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department granted Attorney Clifford Elliot Katz’s motion for reinstatement as an attorney.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Clifford Elliot Katz,” with case no. 2024-05807.
Katz had been suspended from practicing law in New York on January 30, 2017, due to his failure to comply with Judiciary Law Section 468-a, which requires attorneys to register with the state.
Katz subsequently filed a motion seeking reinstatement of his license. In his filing, Katz stated that he had come into compliance with Section 468-a and registered with the state on September 3, 2024.
The New York Court considered Katz’s motion for reinstatement. In a brief order, the court indicated it had reviewed Katz’s submission and deliberated on the matter. As Katz had now fulfilled the Judiciary Law, the court ruled his motion should be granted.
The order immediately reinstated Katz’s ability to practice law in New York again as of October 17, 2024. The court’s decision brings Katz’s suspension, which had lasted over seven years, to an end after he took the necessary steps to satisfy the requirements.
According to the filing, Mr. Katz acquired his law license in New York in 1987.
