On Thursday, March 2, 2023, the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division Third Judicial Department entered an Order striking Florida Attorney Emmett Abdoney’s name from the roll of attorneys of the State of New York pursuant to the latter’s application for resignation from the state bar for non-disciplinary reasons.

The case is styled ‘In the Matter of Emmett Abdoney,’ with case no. PM-43-23.

According to the Memorandum and Order on Motion, Abdoney has been admitted to practice in New York in 1991. Abdoney sought resignation and filed his affidavit on February 8, 2023, to which the Attorney Grievance Committee made no objection.

Accordingly, the Court, upon determination of Abdoney’s eligibility to resign for nondisciplinary reasons, ruled in favor of Abdoney.

The order reads:

“ORDERED that Emmett Abdoney’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted; and it is further

ORDERED that Emmett Abdoney’s name is hereby stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law of the State of New York, effective immediately, and until further order of this Court.”

As of today, Mr. Abdoney maintains his law practice in Brandon, Florida. He graduated from Samford University Cumberland School of Law. Abdoney is licensed in New York, license no. 2434561, as well as in Alabama, West Virginia, and California. His online bio can be found on Avvo.
