On Thursday, February 26, 2026, The Florida Bar filed an ethics complaint against attorney Nancy Louise Grier with the Supreme Court of Florida, alleging multiple violations of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. The complaint, stemming from five separate Florida Bar file numbers, outlines a series of accusations, including failure to appear for court hearings, mishandling of client funds and documents, and unprofessional conduct.

The first count of the complaint, TFB File No. 2023-10,593(13C), concerns Grier’s representation of Joseph Carlstrom in a Putnam County criminal case. The complaint alleges that Grier failed to appear for jury selection on two separate occasions after filing a notice of appearance on October 7, 2022. Despite indicating her readiness for trial on April 3, 2023, and a denied motion to continue the trial, Grier’s non-appearance led to the case being continued and eventually resulted in her removal from the case at the client’s request.

The second count, TFB File No. 2025-30,096(13C), involves Karen Genovese, who retained Grier in January 2024 to revise California estate planning documents. Genovese paid Grier $2,500.00 but Grier allegedly failed to provide a written contract, did not complete the work, and engaged in unprofessional communication, including sending inappropriate text messages. Genovese terminated the attorney-client relationship in May 2024, and Grier allegedly failed to return original documents or provide a refund.

The third count, TFB File No. 2025-30,206(13C), centers around Grier’s representation of her brother in a misdemeanor battery case against his wife, Alexandra Grier. The complaint alleges inappropriate communication with Alexandra Grier via text messages, leading to another attorney sending Grier a cease-and-desist letter due to her actions, including posting on social media, emailing the Court, and making threats against Alexandra Grier.

The fourth count, TFB File No. 2025-30,672(13C), accuses Grier of sending unprofessional and threatening text messages to Tracy Wildes, a process server who attempted to serve a subpoena on Grier’s client.

The fifth count, TFB File No. 2026-30,116(13C), arises from a separation/divorce case involving Grier’s mother and Marjorie Hedges’ brother. Grier allegedly sent inappropriate and disturbing messages to Ms. Hedges, including threats against her and her family. Despite claiming to be medically retired and closing her office, Grier has not formally petitioned for any change in her bar membership status.

The Florida Bar is requesting the Supreme Court to appropriately discipline Grier under the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.

According to Avvo, Ms. Grier is an estate planning lawyer in Ruskin, Florida. She acquired her law license in Florida in 2013.
