On Friday, January 9, 2026, The Florida Bar filed a formal complaint against attorney Raymond Sitar for reciprocal discipline. The complaint, filed with the Supreme Court of Florida, stems from disciplinary action taken against Sitar in Connecticut.
The case is entitled “The Florida Bar v. Raymond Sitar,” with case no. 2025-00,247(2A).
The Florida Bar’s complaint is based on a Grievance Panel Finding of Probable Cause dated August 19, 2022, a Proposed Disposition dated June 22, 2023, and a Letter of Approval from the Statewide Grievance Committee in Connecticut, dated September 8, 2023, which resulted in a reprimand.
The Connecticut reprimand was issued due to Sitar making disparaging and sexually inappropriate remarks about Lauren Merritt during a virtual hearing. Sitar was representing an employer in a small claims lawsuit filed by Merritt. He admitted to making the comments, stating they were made to his client while unaware that his computer microphone was not muted.
The Florida Bar alleges that Sitar violated Connecticut Rules of Professional Conduct 4.4 (Respect for Rights of Third Persons) and 8.4(7) (Misconduct).
The petition states:
“The Florida Bar respectfully requests that the respondent be appropriately disciplined in accordance with the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar and that the bar be awarded its costs under R. Regulating Fla. Bar 3-7.6(q).”
According to Avvo.com, Mr. Sitar is an attorney in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended the North Carolina Central University School of Law, graduating in 1972. He acquired his law license in Florida in 1996.
