On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, the Florida Bar filed a Petition for Contempt and Order to Show Cause against Attorney Tanner Robert Whitmill in the Supreme Court of Florida for failing to respond to an official bar inquiry.

The case is titled ‘The Florida Bar v. Tanner Robert Whitmill.’

The petition states that Whitmill was found in noncompliance by the Sixth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee “A” on September 7, 2023, for failing to respond to the inquiry.

An email was sent to Whitmill on October 4, 2023, informing him of the grievance committee’s finding and providing him with additional time until October 11, 2023, to respond to the bar inquiry prior to the filing of a petition. However, as of the date of the service of the petition, Whitmill has still failed to respond to the official bar inquiry.

The Florida Bar is requesting administrative costs of $1,250.00 against Whitmill for his failure to respond to the inquiry. The Bar also requests that the court suspend Whitmill until he fully responds to the official Bar inquiry.

The petition reads:

“WHEREFORE, The Florida Bar requests that this Court suspend respondent pursuant to Rule3-7.11(f), until such time as respondent fully responds in writing to the official Bar inquiry contained in“Exhibit1” and until further order of this court.”

According to Avvo, Attorney Tanner Robert Whitmill is a workers compensation attorney based in Tampa, Florida. He attended Western Michigan University, Cooley Law School, and acquired his law license in Florida in 2016.
