On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, the Florida Bar filed a petition for contempt and order to show cause against attorney Johanna Maria Menendez before the Supreme Court of Florida for her failure to answer official bar inquiries.

The case is entitled “The Florida Bar v. Johanna Maria Menendez” with case no. 2023-50, 665.

According to the filing, Menendez did not provide written responses to the bar inquiry and as a result, the Florida Bar is requesting the suspension of Menendez until she fully responds to inquiries as well as further orders from the court. The bar is also seeking administrative costs of $1,250 against Menendez. Menendez has been notified of the petition and the trial counsel for this case.

The filing states:

“The other members of The Florida Bar should not have to pay for the respondent’s failure to respond to an official bar inquiry and the initiation of the instant proceeding. Therefore, the bar is requesting administrative costs of $1,250.00 against respondent”

In lieu of the aforementioned conduct, the Florida Bar requested the Supreme Court to sanction Menendez accordingly.

The request states:

“WHEREFORE, The Florida Bar requests that this Court suspend respondent pursuant to Rule3-7.11(f), until such time as respondent fully responds in writing to the official bar inquiry contained in “The Florida Bar Exhibit 1” and until further order of this Court.”

Ms. Menendez practices in Plantation, Florida. She is licensed in Florida. Her info can be found on avvo.com.
