On Monday, August 18, 2025, the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility announced that the state Supreme Court suspended Ray Hal Jenkins from practicing law for a period of two years. This decision, effective immediately, comes as a result of Mr. Jenkins’ professional misconduct while serving as a Judicial Magistrate in Knox County.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Ray Hal Jenkins.”
The suspension follows a Petition for Discipline filed by the Board, which revealed that Jenkins consumed alcohol on multiple occasions during the performance of his official duties. Such actions violated Tennessee Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4, which addresses misconduct among attorneys.
In line with the suspension, Jenkins is required to comply with specific provisions outlined in Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Sections 28 and 30.4. These sections detail the responsibilities and obligations of attorneys who have been suspended, as well as the necessary steps for reinstatement to practice law.
According to Martindale.com, Mr. Jenkins attended the Nashville School of Law, graduating in 1997. He acquired his law license in Tennessee in 1998.
