On Thursday, November 10, 2022, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals ordered the disbarment of Frederick attorney Jason Wayne Shoemaker in consideration of the accurate copy of the order from the State of Maryland, disbarring him from the practice of law by consent.
The case, titled In Re Jason Wayne Shoemaker was brought by the Disciplinary Counsel. Case #DDN2020-D194.
On September 2, 2022, the Court suspended Mr. Shoemaker and ordered him to show cause why reciprocal discipline should not be imposed. Shoemaker neither filed his response nor his affidavit with the Court.
Based on the foregoing facts, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals imposed the same sanction as that of Maryland.
The disposition reads:
“ORDERED that Jason Wayne Shoemaker is hereby disbarred from the practice of law in the District of Columbia. . . it is
FURTHER ORDERED that for purposes of reinstatement, respondent’s disbarment will not begin to run until such time as he files an affidavit that fully complies with the requirements of D.C. Bar R. XI, § 14(g).”
Prior to the disbarment, Mr. Shoemaker practiced in Frederick, Maryland. He had been licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland. His info can be found on Avvo.
