On Monday, January 15, 2024, World News Group reported that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis spoke publicly regarding allegations about her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.
In a January 8 court filing, an attorney for former President Donald Trump alleged Willis and Wade had been involved in a romantic relationship while Wade was still married and receiving payment from Willis’ office.
Willis addressed the allegations during a speech at the Big Bethel AME Church in Atlanta. While she did not directly confirm or deny the romantic relationship, she stated her critics have only taken issue with Wade, who is black, and not the two white special prosecutors she also hired.
Wade was one of three special prosecutors appointed to Willis’ investigation into Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. The court filing claims Willis and Wade took vacations together while her office was paying his salary. Willis maintained her decision to hire Wade was made due to his qualifications and did not discuss further details about their relationship.
