On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the Attorney Discipline Board of the State of Michigan issued a Notice of Reprimand (By Consent) against Grosse Pointe Park attorney Patrick E. Nyenhuis.

The case was brought by the Grievance Administrator, case no. 22-51-GA.

The charges cited MRPC 1.2(a), 1.2(c), and 8.4(c) of the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct.

The Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct can be found here.

Nyenhuis and the Grievance Administrator filed an Amended Stipulation for Consent Order of Discipline and Waiver which sets forth the panel’s finding that Nyenhuis engaged in misconduct while representing a client during a police interrogation involving a shooting in which Nyenhuis’ client was the suspect. Nyenhuis pled no contest to the panel’s findings that he failed to seek the lawful objectives of a client through reasonably available means permitted by law and the rules and that Nyenhuis engaged in assisting the said client in conduct that Nyenhuis should know to be illegal or fraudulent.

The Amended Stipulation was approved by the Attorney Grievance Committee and thereafter approved by the hearing panel.

Accordingly, the hearing panel reprimanded Nyenhuis by consent in relation to Nyenhui’s violation of the above-cited rules of professional conduct.

The Notice of Reprimand, states:

“Patrick E. Nyenhuis, P76343, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #3.
