On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, the IdahoNews reported that a former Boise lawyer named Richard Aaron Morriss had been disbarred from practicing law in Idaho by order of the state Supreme Court.

According to documents, the Supreme Court ruled on January 16, 2024, to disbar Morriss for sending unsolicited explicit photos and sexually inappropriate messages to three different clients.

All three women who received the inappropriate content from Morriss had hired him to represent them for child custody cases. In addition to being disbarred, Morriss was also standing trial at the time in Bannock County for charges of rape.

Public records showed he had received an interim suspension from practicing law in December 2023 before the Supreme Court’s ruling. Specifically, Morriss faces allegations that on February 23, 2022, he raped a victim who was asleep or unconscious and unable to consent at the time. Despite pleading not guilty to the charge, his jury trial began in Bannock County.
