On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the Supreme Court of the State of Iowa ordered the suspension of Davenport attorney Rebecca C. Sharpe’s license to practice law pursuant to the Attorney Disciplinary Board’s petition for suspension due to disability or incapacity.

The case is titled ‘In the Matter of Rebecca C. Sharpe’, case #23-0457.

According to the filing, the Board sought Ms. Sharpe’s suspension due to the latter’s incapacity preventing her from discharging the professional responsibilities associated with the practice of law.

Ms. Sharpe agreed to have her license suspended due to a physical disability and asked for the suspension to start on March 22, 2023, which the Board agreed to.

As result of the Board’s finding that Ms. Sharpe is unable to carry out her professional obligations, the court decided to suspend Ms. Sharpe’s license to practice law.

The order reads:

“Rebecca C. Sharpe’s license to practice law in the State of Iowa is suspended pending further order of this court beginning March 22, 2023. Upon the showing of exigent circumstances in this case and upon Sharpe’s request, the court waives the 20-day notice provisions of rule 34.17(2).”

Ms. Sharpe may seek to dissolve or modify the suspension upon proof of clear and convincing evidence that her disability or incapacity to practice law has been removed and she is fully qualified to resume the practice of law.

Prior to the suspension, Ms. Rebecca C. Sharpe maintained her law practice in Davenport. She is listed as the owner/partner of the law firm, Aitken, Aitken & Sharpe, P.C. She attended the Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, class of 2006. Ms. Sharpe has been licensed in Iowa. Her online bio can be found on LinkedIn.
