Attorney Frederick J. Blackmond has been reinstated by the Supreme Court of Michigan on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, after a 90-day suspension that started on May 1, 2023. The suspension was due to Blackmond’s failure to act with diligence and promptness while representing a criminal defendant.
The case is entitled “Grievance Administrator v Frederick J. Blackmond,” case no. 22-39-GA.
The Court suspended Blackmond on April 27, 2023, after Blackmond admitted the factual allegations of misconduct set forth in the formal complaint, specifically his failure to appear for a client’s first scheduled preliminary examination, appearing to be under the influence of an unknown substance on several hearings.
On July 25, 2023, Blackmond sought reinstatement and filed an affidavit attesting that he has fully complied with all requirements of the panel’s order and that he will continue to comply with the order until and unless reinstated.
The Board of Professional Responsibility did not oppose Blackmond’s petition.
Accordingly, the Court ruled in favor of Blackmond’s reinstatement to the practice of law in Michigan.
Mr. Frederick J. Blackmond practices in Lansing and he has been admitted to practice in Michigan, license no. P29696. His info can be found on lawyersjustia.com.
