On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the Supreme Court of Louisiana accepted the joint petition for consent discipline of attorney Stavros Panagoulopoulos.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Stavros Panagoulopoulos,” with case no. 2023-B-01566.
The charges cited Louisiana Rules of Professional Conduct Rules 7.2(a)(3), 8.1(b), and 8.1(c).
According to the court order, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel had begun investigating Mr. Panagoulopoulos over allegations that he failed to comply with attorney advertising rules. He was also accused of failing to cooperate with ODC’s investigation into two disciplinary complaints filed against him.
Mr. Panagoulopoulos admitted in the joint petition that his actions violated certain Rules of Professional Conduct regarding advertising, as well as rules involving cooperating with disciplinary investigations and proceedings.
In its order, the Supreme Court accepted the petition and suspended Mr. Panagoulopoulos’s law license for six months. However, the suspension was stayed by the court except for a 90-day period, after which the defendant would be on probation for one year.
The terms of Mr. Panagoulopoulos’s probation require that he not engage in any further misconduct. If any violations occur during probation or if he fails to meet the conditions of his probation plan, the remaining suspended portion of his license could be made active.
According to avvo.com, Mr. Panagoulopoulos is a criminal defense attorney in Gretna, Louisiana. He attended the Tulane University Law School. He acquired his law license in Louisiana in 2011.
