On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the U.S. Department of Justice Board of Immigration Appeals suspended Maryland Attorney Terrence Taniform pursuant to a Supreme Court of Maryland opinion indefinitely suspending Taniform from law practice in that state. The case is styled as ‘In the Matter of Terrence Taniform.’
According to the court filing, Taniform was suspended from law practice in Maryland on December 16, 2022.
The disciplinary charges centered on two separate immigration matters. The suspension was in response to the hearing Judge’s factual findings that Taniform violated multiple rules of the Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct by making repeated, knowingly, and intentional misrepresentations to his clients that their deportation appeals have been filed, despite having failed to do so.

On January 5, 2023, a petition seeking Taniform’s immediate suspension was jointly filed by the Disciplinary Counsel for the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the Disciplinary Counsel for the Department of Homeland Security.
The Board, having considered the petition and the grounds for immediate suspension as provided in the Code of Federal Regulations Professional Conduct for Practitioners – Rules, and Procedures, entered an Order granting the petition and thereby suspended Taniform from the practice of law before the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Immigration Courts, and DHS pending final disposition of the proceeding.
Mr. Terrence Taniform practiced in Silver Spring, Maryland, prior to the suspension. He has been admitted to practice law in Maryland in 2017.
