On Monday, November 24, 2025, the Supreme Court of Maryland suspended attorney Josephia Elease Georgetta Rouse indefinitely from practicing law in the state. The suspension will take effect 60 days from the date of the order.

The case is entitled “Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland v. Josephia Elease Georgetta Rouse,” with case no. 22.

The disciplinary action stems from Rouse’s violations of several Maryland Attorneys’ Rules of Professional Conduct, including Rules 19-301.7(a)(2), 19-301.15(a) and (b), 19-301.18(c), 19-308.4(a), 19-404, 19-408, 19-410, and § 10-306 of the Business Occupations & Professional Article. The specific nature of these violations was not detailed in the court’s order.

Rouse will not be eligible to apply for reinstatement for at least six months following the effective date of her suspension. In addition to the suspension, the Supreme Court has ordered Rouse to pay $2,882.55 to the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland to cover costs associated with the disciplinary proceedings.

Chief Justice Matthew J. Fader signed the order. One Justice did not participate in the consideration of the matter.
