On Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Supreme Court of Maryland ordered the transfer of Baltimore attorney Peter George Angelos to disability inactive status. The case is styled ‘Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland v. Peter George Angelos’.
According to the Order, a joint petition seeking the Court to transfer Angelos to disability inactive status by consent was filed by the parties, however, the Court did not grant the petition on March 3, 2023, as it did not conform with the court rules for failing to include a statement that the joint petition had been approved by the Chair of the Attorney Grievance Commission.
Aafter supplementing the joint petition with the required statement of the Chair’s approval of the filing of the said petition, the Court deemed it appropriate to enter an order granting the parties’ request to transfer Angelos to disability inactive status.
The Order directed the Clerk of Court to remove the name of Peter George Angelos from the register of attorneys licensed to practice in the state and certify that fact to the Client Protection Fund of the Bar of Maryland and all Clerks of all judicial tribunals in the state.
Mr. Angelos practiced in Baltimore as a personal injury lawyer prior to his transfer to disability inactive status. He graduated from the University of Baltimore in 1961. He had been admitted to practice in Maryland and New York and is currently licensed to practice in Tennessee and the District of Columbia, according to Avvo.
