On Monday, May 19, 2025, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court placed Attorney Andrew Mark Greenberg on disability inactive status. The decision followed a joint petition for disability inactive status filed by the Office of Bar Counsel on May 15, 2025.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Andrew Mark Greenberg,” with case no. BD-2024-058.

Greenberg had previously faced administrative suspensions, first for nonpayment of registration fees on February 20, 2024, and later on May 13, 2024, under SJC Rule 4:01, § 3(2).

The latest order, effective immediately, requires Greenberg to take specific actions within 14 days, including notifying all clients, wards, heirs, and beneficiaries of his disqualification from practicing law. He must also file notices of withdrawal in all pending cases before courts, agencies, or tribunals, providing case details and client residences. Additionally, Greenberg is required to resign from all fiduciary roles, such as guardian, executor, or trustee, and inform affected parties of his status change.

The order mandates that Greenberg make available any papers or property to clients in pending matters, refund unearned fees, and close all IOLTA, client, trust, or fiduciary accounts, transferring funds appropriately. Notices must be served via certified mail, return receipt requested, in a form approved by the Board of Bar Overseers.

Within 21 days, Greenberg must submit an affidavit to the Office of Bar Counsel certifying compliance with the order and bar disciplinary rules. This affidavit must include copies of notices, recipient lists, bank account schedules, and proof of fund distribution. He is also required to file similar documentation with the clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court for Suffolk County, including a list of jurisdictions where he is admitted to practice and a contact address for future communications.

The Disposition states:

“It is ORDERED that: Andrew Mark Greenberg shall be placed on disability inactive status from the practice of law in the Commonwealth until further order of this Court pursuant to Supreme Judicial Court Rule 4:01, S 13, (2) effective immediately upon the entry of this Order.”

According to Avvo.com, Mr. Greenberg is a debt collection attorney in Newton Center, Massachusetts. He attended the Boston University School of Law, graduating in 2001. He acquired his law license in Massachusetts in 2002.
