On Monday, September 29, 2025, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board issued a notice announcing the suspension of attorney Angelina Cummins’ license to practice law for two years, effective September 26, 2025. The suspension follows proceedings conducted pursuant to Michigan Court Rule (MCR) 9.115, where Tri-County Hearing Panel #55 found Cummins guilty of professional misconduct.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Angelina Cummins,” with case no. 25-21-GA.
The charges cited Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c), 1.3, 1.4(a), 3.2, 8.1(a)(2), 8.4(a)(b), 8.4(c), Michigan Court Rules 9.104(1)(2), 9.104(3)(4), 9.104(7) and 9.113(A) and (B)(2).
The misconduct stemmed from her representation of a client in a post-divorce custody and/or support matter and her failure to respond to a request for investigation. Cummins did not respond to the formal complaint, leading to a default judgment entered by the Grievance Administrator on April 15, 2025.
The hearing panel determined that Cummins neglected a client matter and failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness. She also failed to keep her client informed about the status of the case and did not comply with requests for information. Furthermore, the panel found she failed to expedite litigation.
In addition to neglecting her client, Cummins was found to have knowingly failed to respond to a lawful demand for information from a disciplinary authority. Her actions were deemed to violate multiple Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct (MRPC) and Michigan Court Rules, including engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, and misrepresentation, as well as conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice. The panel also found her actions exposed the legal profession to contempt and were contrary to justice, ethics, honesty, and good morals.
The panel ordered Cummins to pay $6,000 in restitution and assessed costs of $2,001.74. Cummins’s license had previously been suspended on an interim basis on August 7, 2025, due to her failure to appear at the misconduct hearing.
According to Avvo.com, Ms. Cummins is a family attorney in Southfield, Michigan. She acquired her law license in Michigan in 2014.
