On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the Tri-County Hearing Panel #72 suspended the law license of Michigan attorney Matthew D. Novello for 60 days due to violations of several Rules of Professional Conduct.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Matthew D. Novello,” with case no. 23-49-GA.
According to the notice of suspension, Novello neglected a legal matter and failed to seek his client’s lawful objectives or keep them reasonably informed. He also did not act with reasonable diligence or promptness while representing a client. Additionally, Novello knowingly failed to respond to a lawful demand for information from disciplinary authorities and failed to respond to a request for investigation.
Based on the stipulation between Novello and the Grievance Administrator, the panel found he violated the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct and Michigan Court Rules.
Novello’s law license will be suspended starting October 10, 2024, and he was also ordered to pay $1,195.51 in costs. This comes after his license had already been continuously suspended since December 2022.
