On Thursday, August 11, 2022, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board ruled on the five-count formal complaint for attorney discipline against Howell attorney Stephen LaCommare for professional misconduct.

The case was brought by Grievance Administrator under case #22-12-GA.

The charges cited LaCommare’s violations of 1.1(b) and (c), 1.3, 1.4(a), 1.16(d), 9.104(1),(2) and (3), 8.1(a)(2), 9.104(7), 8.1(a)(2), 9.104(2), (3) and (4) of Michigan’s Rule of Professional Conduct.

The Notice of Disbarment  and Restitution reads:

“Stephen LaCommare, P52718, Howell, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Washtenaw County Hearing Panel #1”

Disbarment, Effective August 11, 2022

After proceedings conducted pursuant to MCR9.115, the panel found, by default, that respondent committed professional misconduct, as charged in a five-count formal complaint, during his representation of four separate clients in their separate legal matters and by failing to answer six separate requests for investigation.”

The panel ordered that the respondent be disbarred from the practice of law and that he pay restitution in the total amount of$7,750.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of$1,755.16

As of today, Mr. LaCommare had worked at The Kizer Law Firm as a practicing attorney. LaCommare practiced in Howell, Michigan.
