On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, the Supreme Court of the State of Louisiana suspended Lafayette attorney Shytishia Moore Flugence for mishandling her client’s accounts.

The case is entitled “In the matter of Shytishia Moore Flugence” and was brought by the Office of the Disciplinary Counsel with case no. 2022-B-01647.

The respondent allegedly mishandled her client’s trust account. She also failed to promptly remit funds to third-party providers, failed to execute written contingency fee agreements, failed to prepare settlements, and failed to comply with Notice requirements during financial assistance to clients. Cooperating with the Office of the Disciplinary Council, a Petition for Consent Discipline was filed. Thus, an Order was released.

In the said Order, the Petition for Consent Discipline was accepted, thereby suspending the respondent from the practice of law for a period of six months. The suspension shall be deferred as of the court subject to the respondent’s successful completion of a two-year period of unsupervised probation governed by the conditions of the petition.
