On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the Supreme Court of Missouri ratified the consent for disbarment submitted by attorney Andrew Gavin Wynne. This action followed Wynne’s admission to concocting fabricated documents, encompassing court orders and emails.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Andrew Gavin Wynne,” with case no. SC100113.
Attorney Andrew Gavin Wynne has pled guilty to five counts of felony identity theft before the U.S. District Court. Wynne confessed to fabricating false documents, including court orders and emails, bearing forged signatures of judicial officers from St. Louis and St. Charles counties. He represented over 30 clients, and some documents allegedly awarded money to clients. One instance involved a fictitious divorce decree indicating joint custody and financial entitlements.
Wynne’s actions led to a financial loss between $250,000 and $550,000. The Missouri Supreme Court suspended his law license on October 27, 2021, due to the threat he posed to the public, as indicated by the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel. He was indicted on February 9, 2022, by the U.S. District Court in St. Louis.
The press release states:
“On July 21, 2020, Wynne emailed another client an order with a forged judge’s signature that claimed $20,200 in payments were owed to that client. On both occasions, Wynne told his clients not to discuss the documents that he’d sent. Wynne admitted that his crimes caused a loss of between $250,000 and $550,000.”
In relation to this, Wynne had filed a consent for disbarment by voluntarily surrendering his law license in Missouri. Wynne admitted he engaged in conduct that violated Rule 4-8.4(c) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. The court had received the report and recommendation from the Chief Disciplinary Counsel. In consideration of this information, the court approved the acceptance of the consent for disbarment by voluntary surrender of Andrew Gavin Wynne’s law license, resulting in its cancellation.
The Disposition states:
“The Court, thus advised, now orders that the consent to disbarment by voluntary surrender of the license of Andrew Gavin Wynne be accepted and that said license be canceled. It is further ordered that the name of Andrew Gavin Wynne be stricken from the roll of attorneys in this state, that Andrew Gavin Wynne be disbarred, and that his right and license to practice law in this state.”
Before his disbarment, Mr. Wynne practiced in Saint Louis. He was licensed in Missouri with license no. 66415.
