On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, the State of Michigan Attorney Discipline Board issued a notice of a three-year suspension against attorney Scott Alan Mund for gross indecency.
The case is entitled “In the matter of Scott Alan Mund” with case no. 22-67-AI; 22-75-JC.
Engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, misrepresentation, or violation of the criminal law, where such conduct reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer.
Conduct that violates a criminal law of a state or of the United States, an ordinance, or tribal law pursuant to MCR 2.615.
Attorney Mund and the Grievance Administrator jointly filed a first amended stipulation for a consent order of suspension, which received approval from the Attorney Grievance Commission and was accepted by the hearing panel. In this amended stipulation, Mund admitted to being convicted, through a no-contest plea, of one count of the felony offense of gross indecency.
In relation to this and in accordance with MC R 9.120(B)(1), Mund’s license to practice law in Michigan was automatically suspended. Based on the respondent’s admissions and the amended stipulation by the parties, the panel determined that the respondent engaged in conduct involving a violation of the criminal law, which reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer, in violation of MRP C 8.4(b). Additionally, the respondent violated a criminal law of a state or of the United States, an ordinance, or tribal law pursuant to MCR 2.615, in violation of MCR 9.104(5).
The Disposition states:
“In accordance with the amended stipulation of the parties, the hearing panel ordered that the respondent’s license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for three years, effective July 6, 2023. Total costs were assessed in the amount of $943.08..”
