On Thursday, August 10, 2023, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department announced that it had granted the application of attorney William J. Riina to resign from the NY bar for non-disciplinary reasons.
The case is titled “In the Matter of William J. Riina,” case no. PM-166-23.
According to the court document, Riina filed a motion seeking to resign from the New York State Bar on June 12, 2023, to which the Attorney Grievance Committee did not file any objection.
Following a thorough review of the application, the Court, having determined Riina’s eligibility to resign for non-disciplinary reasons, granted and accepted his resignation.
Riina’s name was struck from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law of the State of New York and was prohibited from practicing law in any capacity, appearing as an attorney in court, providing legal opinions or advice, or holding himself out as an attorney.
Mr. William J. Riina attended the University of Maryland School of Law. He is listed as Senior Counsel at Wilson Elser, serving Madison, New Jersey. He had been licensed to practice in New York in 1985, license no. 1967256.
