On Thursday, March 7, 2024, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York, Third Judicial Department accepted the non-disciplinary resignation of attorney Eli Patrick McCrain.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Eli Patrick McCrain,” with case no. PM-38-24.

McCrain currently lists his business address in Arlington, Virginia. He petitioned the court to leave the New York bar for non-disciplinary reasons. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department did not oppose McCrain’s application for resignation.

The court reviewed McCrain’s affidavit from January 10, 2024, explaining his reasons for leaving as well as correspondence from the Committee and determined he was eligible to resign without disciplinary issues. With no objections from the AG Committee or judges, the Appellate Court allowed McCrain’s name to be removed from the roll of licensed attorneys in New York, ensuring he could no longer practice law or present himself as an attorney in the state going forward.

The Disposition states:

“ORDERED that Eli Patrick McCrain’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted,”

According to the court filing, Mr. McCrain acquired his law license in New York in 2018.
