On Thursday, February 29, 2024, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Third Department granted the motion of attorney Michael Anthony Suarez to be reinstated to practice law. Suarez had previously been suspended by the court in September 2022.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Michael Anthony Suarez,” with case no. PM-21-24.

To be reinstated, Suarez was required to show by clear and convincing evidence that he was now compliant with the order of suspension and court rules, that he possessed good character and fitness to practice law, and that reinstatement would be in the public interest. In his motion, Suarez submitted an affidavit with exhibits demonstrating he had fulfilled the requirements during his suspension period.

The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department, which regulates attorney conduct, reviewed Suarez’s application and didn’t object to his reinstatement. Consequently, the court reinstated Suarez’s license to practice law in New York, effective immediately.

The Disposition states:

“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”

According to avvo.com, Mr. Suarez is a litigation attorney in San Francisco, California. He attended the New York Law School. He acquired his law license in New York in 2007.
