On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted Attorney Clayton Rashad Williams’ request to resign from the New York Bar for nondisciplinary reasons.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Clayton Rashad Williams,” with case no. PM-211-25.
The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department (AGC) confirmed it did not oppose Williams’ application for resignation. The court reviewed Williams’ affidavit, sworn to on July 29, 2025, and correspondence from the Deputy Chief Attorney for the AGC dated September 12, 2025, before determining his eligibility for nondisciplinary resignation.
As a result of the court’s order, Williams’ name will be removed from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York, effective immediately. He is prohibited from practicing law in any capacity within New York, including acting as a principal, agent, clerk, or employee of another attorney. The order also forbids him from appearing as an attorney before any court, judge, justice, board, commission, or other public authority.
Furthermore, Williams is barred from providing legal opinions, advice, or holding himself out as an attorney in New York. He is required to surrender any Attorney Secure Pass issued to him to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days of the court’s decision.
The Disposition states:
“It is ORDERED that Clayton Rashad Williams’ application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted.”
