On Thursday, August 8, 2024, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department accepted the nondisciplinary resignation of attorney Gavin Robert Tisdale from the state bar.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Gavin Robert Tisdale,” with case no. PM-158-24.
Tisdale had applied to resign under Rules for Attorney Disciplinary Matters 1240.22(a), which allows attorneys to withdraw from practice for nondisciplinary reasons. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department did not oppose Tisdale’s application.
In its decision, the court reviewed Tisdale’s affidavit, detailing his reasons for leaving practice, as well as a letter from the Deputy Chief Attorney at the Grievance Committee. Finding Tisdale was eligible to resign for nondisciplinary reasons, the court granted his application and removed his name from the roll of admitted attorneys.
Tisdale is now prohibited from practicing law or presenting himself as an attorney in New York state. He must also surrender any Attorney Secure Pass issued to him to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days.
The Disposition states:
“ORDERED that Gavin Robert Tisdale’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted.”
According to avvo.com, Mr. Tisdale is an attorney in Washington, District of Columbia. He attended the University of Connecticut School of Law. He acquired his law license in New York in 2018.
